Hear an amazing iPhone recording of the Punahou Alumni Glee Club on soundcloud

12 11 2010

Great time last night singing and dancing hula with the Punahou Alumni Glee Club. DH recorded the performance at Pohai Nani with his iPhone!

Today’s technology is amazing. Have a listen by going to the soundcloud. Click on this link. You can have the 45 minutes play in the background while you do something else, or you can click on any part of the sound wave bar to hear just a part of it.

Our glee club sings Hawaiian numbers. Last night, in observance of Veteran’s Day, our finale was a musical tribute to the Armed Forces and the USA.

Here’s a snapshot DH took of us setting up and trying to get organized prior to the doors opening. That’s one of our directors Vicky Hollinger on the left and me on the right in the front row.

Touring Kauai

30 06 2010

Aloha everyone!

Been gone. I went holoholo (driving) on Kauai with DH and his sister Penny’s family from Pennsylvania. Two days and one night. Six people, one van.

Kalalau Valley

From Lihue Airport, around the island in a counter-clockwise direction the first day to the end of the road at Kee Beach; then clockwise to the end of the road (PuuoKila lookout) on the second day, touring the highlights most first-time visitors see.

My camera of choice for some time now is the iPhone 3G version 3.1.2. Hope you enjoy my unaltered photos and that they inspire you to create!

Fern Grotto at Wailua River

Old Kilauea Lighthouse - a national historic landmark. The surrounding area is a national wildlife refuge.

Endangered nene (native Hawaiian goose) (Branta sandvicensis)

Hanalei Valley with loi kalo (taro gardens)

Hanalei Bay and sailboats

Maniniholo Dry Cave

Kee Beach

Northwest Kauai from Kee Beach

Alekoko (Menehune Fishpond)

Waimea Canyon. I see their faces now.

In the clouds. When we arrived at the ma uka lookout to Kalalau Valley, we looked out to a sea of white, waiting patiently until the clouds lifted to reveal the valley and the surf far below (see top photo)

My dog is magical

20 09 2009

Relative to the Violet Flame in the articles I linked to near the end of my previous post on Gratitude, take a look at this photo that captures my doggy’s aura! Can you believe it?!

They are ready for their morning walk

Ready for their morning walk: (L to R) guest dog, darling husband, Miss Marvelous and Alice Brown with violet halo

That is Alice Brown who greets you at the top of this blog each time you visit Rebekah’s Studio. This is a straight photo from my iPhone, I swear.

Alice Brown is a Kahuku girl who was given to us by my late father’s caregivers. She is a mix of silky terrier (mom) and “the fat hot dog down the road” (dad). She’s a long dog with great hair, and she’s very entertaining.

Thank you, Alice Brown, for coming into our lives. You bring blessings and joy to us and everyone you meet.

Miss Marvelous discovers her toes

In my garden for one night only, 12 night blooming cereus flowers like these

In my garden for one night only, 12 night blooming cereus flowers like these

I made two paintings with light today. One is of our granddaughter Ayla, and the other of night blooming cereus. Both were taken with my iPhone, hand held with existing light. The only adjustment I made was to the contrast on the cereus, as I shot it just a few moments ago, and it’s dark outside! The real artist, though, and I’m sure you’ll agree, is our Creator. Mahalo e ke Akua. ~ Rebekah

She's marvelous!
